Midnight Blue (1963): Jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell featuring Stanley Turrentine on tenor saxophone, Major Holley on double bass, Bill English on drums and Ray Barretto on conga. Midnight Blue is one of Burrell’s best-known works for Blue Note Records. In 2005, NPR included the album in its "Basic Jazz Library", describing it as "one of the great jazzy blues records".

Pots of Clay...

Abound: to occur or exist in great quantities or numbers: a stream in which trout abound.

One of my closest friends, if not my best friend, who lives in Florida lost his brother eighteen years ago this year. His older brother, Darryl, was his best friend and hero. Darryl was an All American basketball player in high school who later went on to the University of Florida to play basketball. My friend Joe was a great basketball player in his own right finishing his high school career with All State honors and earning a full scholarship to play basketball at SMU. Their dad, Joe Sr, was their coach and they both were inducted into the Palm Beach County Hall of Fame a year ago.

Their father is also in the Palm Beach Hall of Fame ,as well as, the Florida HOF.

They were great players and members of an even better family.

The following year after Darryl's death Joey and his wife gave birth to twin boys Matt & Alec. The boys are eighteen now and our tremendous, and internationally ranked, golfers. They are also very good kids that I think a lot of. They will be attending SMU next fall on full golf scholarships

They are very talented.

Trust me on this one.

Matt, Me & Alec (2000)

Below is a poem I wrote in December of 1997 a few months after they were born.

Pots of Clay

Some are given one pot new
abundant blessings abound; you were given two
a true gift in those pieces of clay
love must be given every day.

The gifts unwrapped in the middle of the fall
to each was given a basketball
Matt & Alec are their namesake
two precious pots of clay, so much at stake.

Before them "One" was taken away
we all wish he were here today
in his eyes pride would glisten for all to see
those two little souls would have loved Uncle D.

Two pots of clay
parents are the potters, kids the clay
time must be given to shape and mold
so they do the same when they grow old.

Praying that God will watch over them every day
blessing mom and dad with the right things to say
praying for strength in each endeavor and safety while they play
never letting them forget that "I love you" is easy to say.
