Midnight Blue (1963): Jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell featuring Stanley Turrentine on tenor saxophone, Major Holley on double bass, Bill English on drums and Ray Barretto on conga. Midnight Blue is one of Burrell’s best-known works for Blue Note Records. In 2005, NPR included the album in its "Basic Jazz Library", describing it as "one of the great jazzy blues records".

Don't negotiate the truth...

Negotiate: to deal or bargain with another or others, as in the preparation of a treaty or contract or in preliminaries to a business deal.

Below is a short note I wrote in my Bible back in 2007. The entry is located between the book of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.

April 8, 2007

Don't negotiate the truth or what is good or right. Use a measured approach when trying to resolve conflict so as to keep the conflict from escalating. Be firm but calm, Let your yes be yes and your no be no; not negotiating, nor being contentious. Always be firm but fair; viewing things from the other side...put yourself in the other person's shoes. Finally, remember there are times that serves everyone well when one person gives up their right to be right. Be secure and confident that you are standing on the side of truth in a matter, and with that knowledge based on the truth, there are times that it is simply better to be silent. Maturity will aid you on knowing when to speak and when to remain silent.
